Fifty-five years ago - December 10, 1959 - Jack sits with a rose in his mouth at the Egyptian Gardens nightclub, New York, with Albert Saijo, Lew Welch, and Fred & Gloria McDarrah. Kerouac, Welch and Saijo had just driven from California, where Jack had appeared on Steve Allen’s TV show.
